Restoration

STARK is the leader in providing carpet and rugs for historic restoration projects. The STARK archives include hundreds of designs from different time periods that are readily available to select from. If required, detailed reproductions can be produced to replicate the existing carpet.

Our experts are available to consult and identify the original type of carpet, whether it is Axminster, Wilton, Brussels weave, ingrain, or chenille. Reproductions of Aubusson and Savonnerie carpets, as well as oriental carpets, are also STARK specialties.

STARK uses many of the same looms and methods of installation that would originally have been employed. Detailed research is done to ensure that the restoration project is as authentic as possible and that the work is done to the highest standards.

Past historic restoration projects include the US Department of the Interior, National Park Service, and Vanderbilt Mansion, as well as the Franklin D. Roosevelt home in Hyde Park, New York. Other notables are the Maryland State House, the Ballantine House at the Newark Museum, and the home of President Martin Van Buren, as well as The White House in Washington, D.C.

STARK account managers are available to discuss your individual needs and to guide you on how to proceed in your historic restoration project.
